5th Parenthood Expo 2009
Date: 21 - 23 August 09 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday 3 Days)
Time: 10:30am - 9:00pm, till 7pm on Sunday
Venue: Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Hall2, Booth B 89
We are going for our 2nd baby fair ever, so come on down to support us as we encourage all mothers to wear their babies and breastfeed their baby till as long as possible! Hope to see you there!

In view of H1 N1, there will be temperature testing at the door and mask for sale. Those who have fever have to remain outside. Maybe not advisable to bring baby. Just come yourself with a mask.

By far the largest annual baby fair in Malaysia! This annual event is packed with lots of great products and new innovative ideas for modern parents! In this new age, parents are getting more involved in a baby's life. We used to think that... baby is too young to know anything, but on the contrary, the first few years of a baby's life are the most important years! These are the years that you can maximize a child's potential by providing the correct stimulation and spending time education, bonding.. and loving your child!

Here's a video of our MummyHugs first baby fair in April 2008, City Square Shopping Mall, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. We were honoured to have about 20 parents and their baby join us for our fashion show, it was such a great success. Thank you to all the contestant who participated! The winners walked away with a MummyHugs baby sling each and a diaper cake hampers.
Enjoy the video! :)

A Press Release from WABA: World Breastfeeding Week 1-7 August 2009

In Emergencies, Breastfeeding Is A Lifeline.

Emergencies can happen anywhere in the world. Infants and young children are especially vulnerable to malnutrition, illness, and death in these situations. Whatever the emergency from earthquake to conflict, from floods to the flu pandemic the story is the same: breastfeeding is a lifeline and a shield that protects infants in emergencies.

From 1-7 August 2009, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), and breastfeeding advocates in more than 150 countries worldwide will be celebrating World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) for the 18th year. This year, WABA teams up with the Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN) and the International Baby Food Action Network-Geneva Infant Feeding Association (IBFAN-GIFA) who represent an international collaboration of United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations (IFE Core Group) concerned with protection and support of safe and appropriate infant and young child feeding in emergencies. Together we call for the active protection and support of breastfeeding during emergencies and the prevention and refusal of donations of breastmilk substitutes1, bottles and teats that, too often, do more harm than good.

When an emergency strikes, simple measures can make all the difference in the world. Emergency preparedness is the key to quick appropriate actions. Mothers need to be secure and have priority access to food for the family, water, shelter and safe places to breastfeed.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNICEF recommendations - early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding until six months of age and continued breastfeeding for two years or beyond - are even more critical in emergencies. Breastfeeding is the one safe and secure source of food and fluid for infants - instantly available, providing active protection against illness and keeping an infant warm and close to his/her mother. It also reduces the risk of post-partum haemorrhage in the mother, the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. In the challenging and risky environment of an emergency, how infants are fed is key to their survival.

Protecting breastfeeding and infant and young child feeding from inappropriate marketing influences is an essential component of emergency interventions. Violations of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and subsequent relevant WHA Resolutions are frequent2. International guidance3 developed by the IFE Group clearly states that donations of breastmilk substitutes, bottles and teats should not be sought nor accepted in emergencies.

Everyone can play a positive and important role in emergency preparedness and response. Find out what you can do by consulting the WBW 2009 ACTION FOLDER produced by WABA and the IFE Core Group that includes an extensive Guide for Action. Available online at the WABA website and in print in 4 languages from WABA.

Breastfeeding is a vital emergency response. When a disaster strikes, everyone should be ready!

A thank you video dedicated to all moms!

O ye loving mothers, know ye that in God's sight, the best of all ways to worship Him is to educate the children and train them in all the perfections of humankind; and no nobler deed than this can be imagined. ~Abdu'l-Baha~

Together with the photographs, in about 100-500 words tell us how babywearing has helped you in parenting, bonding with your baby, how it has enhanced your life...etc.

Let's celebrate babywearing!

Baby Buds Products!

Now you can purchase selected Buds Baby Product from our MummyHugs Store!

Protect your baby with Buds Baby
Even before you baby is born, you realize that her health is in your hands. As such, you take every precaution to ensure her health and welfare are optimized by quitting smoking and drinking, eating healthily and possibly doing mild exercises. This natural instinct to provide the best is sustained beyond pregnancy, and once baby is born most parents endeavor to meet their new baby’s nutritional, emotional and physical needs in whatever way possible.
A baby’s nutritional needs can best be provided by on-demand breastfeeding. Lots of love, hugs and cuddles are in order to ensure baby’s sound emotional development. This will then form the basis for your baby to develop in the most optimal conditions.
However, our environment poses many risks to a newborn. During the first year of life your baby will spend hours close to the ground where once mobile she will explore the new and exciting world around her. She will undoubtedly come across many things that she will want to play with and maybe even taste. Some of these encounters will put there toll on your little ones fragile skin and under developed immune system. This also includes baby care products that may contain harmful or potentially harmful chemicals.
You will soon come to realize that you have limited control over what your baby comes in contact with. You do however have control over your choice of baby care products and it would make sense that you would whish to choose ones that help to protect and heal your baby. The Buds Baby range that contains only carefully selected natural ingredients from all over the world does just that. For example, most of the products contain Portulaca extract that has natural anti-irritant and anti-allergy properties. It also actively helps your baby’s skin protect itself from harmful pollutants and skin sensitizers. Another ingredient that is used extensively in this wonderful range is Beta Glucan. A derivative from a species of mushrooms, Beta Glucan helps wounds heal and promotes cell proliferation. As Buds Baby only contains natural plant based ingredients it is free from the harmful or potentially harmful chemicals found in most baby care products.
