We have also set up Facebook Fan Page! And it there's still a big room for more exciting ideas and growth.

2011 is a new year and means that it's a new beginning, new inspirations, new energies and new ideas. Just a sneak peak, we'll be coming up with many new gorgeous design and also exploring into another style of carrier!

Sling & Travel in December!

This month, we'll be away on vacation as babywearing makes it easy to travel even when you have 2 kids! We are getting a bit ambitious planning trips to beaches, visiting the farms, wild life parks, flea markets and a hike at the wild life nature reserves!!! Read more on my previous article on Travelling with kids. YES it'll be tiring, but it'll be so much fun too. :)

But, rest assure, business is still open as usual. Except that for this month of December, we'll be mailing out your slings on Mondays and Wednesdays only. So please make your order and payment early to avoid dissapointment.

Since this year's theme for International Babywearing Week is "SAFE BABYWEARING, ENJOY THE BENEFITS." MummyHugs celebrates World Breastfeeding Week 1-7 August 2010!

At MummyHugs we are passionate about encouraging more mothers to breastfeed longer.

Together with a baby sling you can breastfeed on the go and wearing your baby in a sling lets you breastfeed anywhere in public areas discreetly. You don't need a baby sling to breastfeed but in our active lifestyle, it does make life easier and encourages mothers to breastfeed longer.

When I was asked time and again if I was breastfeeding my 20 month old! I proudly says YES! But the next question I'm asked is when am I going to stop? My answer is I'm not planning to stop. Now why you may ask? I don't have a reason to stop and there's still so many benefits of breastfeeding a toddler. I've written a post on Nursing Beyond One Year, click here to read more.

WHO recommends breastfeeding till two years of age or beyond. Read more to find out :)

FROM THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION:

Breastfeeding is the normal way of providing young infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Virtually all mothers can breastfeed, provided they have accurate information, and the support of their family, the health care system and society at large.

Colostrum, the yellowish, sticky breast milk produced at the end of pregnancy, is recommended by WHO as the perfect food for the newborn, and feeding should be initiated within the first hour after birth.

Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond.

Wondering how our society can become more breastfeeding friendly? Here are the 10 steps.

1. Have a written breastfeeding policy that is routinely communicated to all health care staff.
   
   
2. Train all health care staff in skills necessary to implement this policy.
   
   
3. Inform all pregnant women about the benefits and management of breastfeeding.
   
   
4. Help mothers initiate breastfeeding within a half-hour of birth.
   
   
5. Show mothers how to breastfeed and how to maintain lactation, even if they should be separated from their infants.
   
   
6. Give newborn infants no food or drink other than breast milk unless medically indicated.
   
   
7. Practice rooming- in - allow mothers and infants to remain together - 24 hours a day.
   
   
8. Encourage breastfeeding on demand.
   
   
9. Give no artificial teats or pacifiers (also called dummies or soothers) to breastfeeding infants.
   
   
10. Foster the establishment of breastfeeding support groups and refer mothers to them on discharge from the hospital or clinic.
